• Before applying please read/print the eligibility criteria & selection procedure carefully.
• Before starting the registration process, you are advised to consult the 'How to Apply' section at the bottom.
• Each candidate will need to register only once. After registration, he/she can apply to as many departments he/she wishes (if eligible). He/she must note the Login-ID for future use.
• After each application, he/she will get a unique Application No. Using this No he/she can relogin into the system.
• After application, the candidiate will need to print out a SBI bank challan, and make payment for all departments. Each challan has two identical parts: one will be retained by the candidate and the other will be retained by the bank.
• After depositing the amount at any SBI branch,candidates have to upload the fees deposit details by login to the system using Application No./Login ID.
• The candidate will then need to take a printout of the admit card (if applicable), following all necessary instructions.
• Candidates must produce the admit card with an attested (not self attested) photograph of the candidate pasted on it at the time of written admission test. (To print admit card follow Step 4 of How To Apply page.)
• All admission tests will have to be taken in English or Bengali.
• IMPORTANT :
  If any candidate wants to fill the form second time, he/she has to enter his/her H.S. or equivalent Registration No./Index No. followed by dup (for example, if your H.S. or equivalent Registration No./Index No. is 5008456 then you will have to enter 5008456dup).

• Students who want to apply for hostel accommodation are advised to submit duly filled-in application form for hostel boardership along with attachment as mentioned in the application form (address proof, income certificate issued by the authority mentioned in the application form) on the day of admission. Hostel Bordership Application Form will also be available on the day of admission. No hostel bordership application form (filled-in) will be accepted after the day of admission. • ALL CANDIDATES ARE HEREBY INFORMED THAT IF IT IS FOUND THAT THE CANDIDATE MADE ANY MISTAKE WHILE FILLING UP THE ON-LINE FORM, THE CORRECT MARKS WILL BE TAKEN INTO ACCOUNT DURING THE ADMISSION PROCESS. WHERE NECESSARY, THE MERIT POSITION WILL BE CORRECTED.
• Jadavpur University has accepted in principle that each and every student of the University shall be duty bound during the entire period of studentship with the University to immediately report to the Dean of Students if any ragging is noticed either in University hostel or on University campus. If any incident of ragging comes to the notice of the Authority, the concerned student shall be given liberty to explain and if his/her explanation is not found satisfactory, the Authority would expel him/her from the University.
• As per circular Nos. BC-16014/1/82-SC dt.06/08/1984 & BCD-1, D.O.12017/11/89-SCD(R.CELL) dt.09/01/1990 and letter No.1510-SCW dt.31/05/2007 from the Government of West Bengal, Scheduled Castes/ Scheduled Tribes of the States other than West Bengal are not entitled to get the benefit of reserved quota in Educational Institutions in West Bengal.

Eligibility Criteria for B.A. (Honours) Courses under different categories.

*For Sports Category

Eligible candidates under Sports Category must have a record of participation in current year or at least one of the two preceeding years in the Inter-State competition or above in the sports and games recognised by AIU (list of national university games available on www.aiuweb.org).

Certificates of participation in Sports/Games must be obtained from competent authorities as specified below and attested photocopies of the certificates along with a copy of bank challan must be submitted at the Office of the Principal Secretary, Faculty Council of Arts (at the U.G. Arts Building) on or before June 14, 2013.

Participants in Tournaments / Events organized or certified by bodies other than those mentioned above are not eligible.

Selection Procedure

*Sports Category : Selection under the Sports category for a particular subject of study will be made in order of merit on the basis of the academic score of the candidates for all the games/events taken together.

Candidates under the sports category are advised to apply for, and if necessary appear at the Written Test for as many subjects as they would like to be considered for. Not more than two students will be selected for admission in a particular subject under the sports quota.

Candidates who have passed the H.S. or it's equivalent examination (under 10+2 system) through a correspondence course under any recognized Board/Council will be required to sit for a Preliminary Qualifying Test (PQT).

Aggregate Marks Calculation

Date and Time of Admission Tests

Qualifying test for those who have passed the (+2) examination through correspondence / patracher / open school method (for Sanskrit and Economics only) will be held on 18.06.2013 at 12.00 noon in the respective departments.

A student who has obtained the Bachelor Degree from a recognized University is not eligible for admission to the Bachelor Degree course of this University.

Applicants in the Sports category shall have to furnish original & attested copies of the certificate(s) issued by the following Authorities in support of their participation in the Inter-State or above in the sports and games recognised by AIU (list of national university games available on www.aiuweb.org) organized in the current year and two years preceeding only. Candidates who have applied under Sports category must submit their Sports Certificates issued by the following authorities with a photocopy of bank challan to the Office of the Secretary, Faculty of Science (Ground Floor, U.G. Science Building) within June 18, 2013 (from 11.00 am to 5.00 pm).

Admission be made strictly according to the marks obtained in the Higher Secondary or equivalent examination. There will be no Admission Test. Incomplete application in any respect will be summarily rejected.

Merit lists of the candidates to be called for interview for Honours in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Geological Sciences will be prepared on the basis of the marks obtained in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics in Higher Secondary or equivalent examinations.
